about

“You Know” is about the journey we are all on— a navigation through the difficulties of what is said in our relationships with others and what is left unspoken.

Did you know that 70 to 93 percent of communication is non-verbal? (Dustin Smith, lifesize.com). This means that we say a lot even at times when we don’t say anything.

As an introvert, I tend to shell up and keep my deepest thoughts, cares, worries, joys, and convictions to myself. However, I am learning that those closest to me—those who care deeply for me— want me to speak my mind when my eyes are showing caution signs.

In the last few years, we’ve seen our world fall apart relationally because of bad communication. Not just because of the things that we say to others, but the things we forget to say or choose not to say. Things like, “I love you,” or “we disagree on this issue, but I care enough about you to love you regardless,” or “I don’t understand where you’re coming from, but I want to. Help me understand.” Imagine what this world would be like if we said the things that we truly feel, but sometimes omit in the heat of the moment.

“You Know” reminds us that even when the world around us is crumbling, love remains as our citadel for how to live and relate to others.

lyrics

Tell me what is on your mind
Eyes show more than a caution sign
Words say more than any emotion
Somewhere I crossed a line

You know what I mean
Don't hide your belief

Words can drive two people apart
Starts with one then the bombs go off
Too long the reasons are made
We should bend instead we break

Now we're asking what went wrong
Unintentional all along
Coming back I'm saying I'm sorry
'Cause hard words can't break a love that's strong
